1. Agreement and Services

Welcome to Sous-Sjef ("we", "us", "our"). By using our website and services, you agree to these Terms of Service. Sous-Sjef offers a digital kitchen platform that lets you search for, organize, scan, and generate recipes using artificial intelligence.

2. Accounts and Registration

To use certain features of the service (such as your personal cookbook or AI generations), you must create an account, either with an email address and password, or via Google Sign-In or "Sign in with Apple". You are responsible for keeping your account details and password confidential. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

3. Fair Use Policy

To prevent server abuse, automated scraping, and excessive AI costs, we apply a Fair Use Policy to all active subscribers. The Premium subscription (Sjef de Cuisine) provides extensive access to every AI feature in the app, subject to the following hard limits:

• A weekly rolling fair-use allowance of up to 3,000 Sjef Coins per rolling 7-day period applies.
• Every AI-powered action is metered in Sjef Coins: generating a recipe (text) costs 100 coins, scanning a recipe photo costs 100 coins, generating a recipe image costs 200 coins, a chat message to Sjef's Lab or Ask Sjef costs 10 coins, and generating drink pairings or nutrition information each cost 50 coins.
• Once this allowance is used up, access to all AI features — generations, recipe scanning, chat, drink pairings, and nutrition information — is temporarily suspended until the end of the current 7-day period.
• Using scripts, bots, or other automated methods to generate recipes or scrape the database is not permitted.
• We may adjust these coin costs, the rolling allowance, or add new AI-metered features at any time; the current costs are always shown in the app's Credits screen.

4. Sjef's Lab AI Liability Disclaimer

Our AI cooking assistant (Sjef's Lab) and recipe scanner use advanced artificial intelligence to interpret and generate culinary ideas and recipes, including photos you provide via the camera or photo library. The following disclaimer applies:

• All culinary content, ingredient lists, allergen information, and preparation steps are intended solely for inspiration and educational purposes.
• Sous-Sjef and its operators accept no liability whatsoever for any cooking accidents, injury, property damage, fire, errors in scaling portions or ingredients, or unintended inclusion of allergens.
• You are at all times responsible for checking ingredients, allergens, cooking temperatures, and safety in your own kitchen.

5. User-shared content (Community)

Recipes you share with the community are visible to other users. You remain responsible for the content you upload, including photos. We apply a zero-tolerance policy for offensive content and abuse.

• You may not post content that is illegal, hateful, violent, sexually explicit, discriminatory, harassing, or otherwise offensive, or that infringes the rights of third parties (including copyright).
• Any user can report a shared recipe via the button in the app, and can block other users so their content is no longer visible.
• Reported content is reviewed and, if it violates these terms, removed within 24 hours. The user in question may be permanently banned from the platform.
• By sharing content, you grant us a non-exclusive license to display it within the service. If you delete your account, your personal link to shared recipes is removed.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

Access to the premium subscription (Sjef de Cuisine) is granted upon payment of the rates listed on the subscription page. Payments made via the website are processed through our partner Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date via the customer portal.

If you purchase the subscription via the iOS app, payment is handled through your App Store account and managed via RevenueCat. The subscription renews automatically at the then-current displayed price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You manage and cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings; deleting your Sous-Sjef account does not end an active subscription.

7. Termination and Changes

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the service or your access to the platform at any time, with or without cause. Changes to these terms will be published on this page.
